Too often successful science teachers quit teaching to write. Writing is more lucrative than teaching. When there are no real students, errors tend to creep in. What sounds so good on paper simply may not work when kids do it. That is one reason Mr. B continues to teach. But, the more important reason he continues to teach is simple -- Mr. B loves his students. And they love his zany ideas! |
Mike Bolinsky, alias
Mr. B, is a certified science teacher, research chemist
(he invented the best agar around), pyrochemist (they use
his flashpaper on TV and live stage performances),
tropical botanist (his product dramatically lengthens the
life of florist shop flowers), and he invented a way to
lengthen the shelf-life of fruits. He is also a former
med. school student, former NASA employee, former
research chemist with a large oil company. Eight years ago he started teaching science classes to 15 home school children. Demand for his stimulating labs spread by word of mouth. Soon he was wanted in more places. He hired teachers to use his materials to teach more students. Today he and his staff teach K through Chemistry to over 500 home school students in the Arlington, Fort Worth, Waco, Richardson, Cedar Hill, Carrolton, and Dallas areas. Now even more parents want his unique blend of Christian truths coupled with hands-on science spiced with memorable stories. Mike has such a heart for home school families that he wanted to "box up his classes" and send them to families who don't live in Dallas. So that's what he did -- Science Labs-in-a-Box®.
